But even when Zappa and crew come on like the avant-garde answer to Doug Clark and the Hot Nuts, they do so with such self-parodying panache ("I'm So Cute," "Jewish Princess") that you're just as likely to laugh with them as at them. Instrumentally, Sheik Yerbouti is a refreshingly straightforward record.

Following is "I'm So Cute," sung by Bozzio in what I swear is a parody of Sting's vocals circa Outlandos D'Amour and featuring more great lyrics and riffs and melodies that make it seem like this is going to be one of the best Zappa albums ever. And finishing this stretch is "Jones Crusher," with Adrian Belew singing lines like, "She can push /5(33).

Jun 13,  · I was so pissed off when I found out what it was! My favorite song off that album is "I'm So Cute", and it doesn't help that Zappa turned it into "I'm So Short"! Anyway, I REALLY want the original EMI cd of Sheik Yerbouti. If anyone knows where I could get this cd, please let me know. I am about to try timsresbotenforingmatahorpucave.coinfo for the cd. _____.

"I'm So Cute" is one of a handful of songs Frank Zappa wrote in to feature drummer Terry Bozzio on vocals (other examples include "Titties & Beer" and "Punky's Whips"). It appeared on the LP Sheik Yerbouti. As usual, he is cast into a grotesque role, this time half-singing, half-screaming his vocals while hammering a punk rock beat.

In order to finance his artier excursions, which increasingly required more expensive technology, Frank Zappa recorded several collections of guitar- and song-oriented material in the late '70s and early '80s, which generally concentrated on the bawdy lyrical themes many fans had come to expect and enjoy in concert. Sheik Yerbouti (two LPs, one CD) was one of the first and most successful of 8/

But Sheik Yerbouti is an exceptionally well-made recording, with some of Frank Zappa's best guitar solos. Virtually all of the selections' backing tracks were recorded live, and that gives the much-overdubbed final product a life missing from most overdubbed studio recordings/5().
